Fall is Here...

Today has been a fun filled day. We went and picked out our pumpkin the other day and brought it home so today we decided to carve it.

I think Eliza was more excited about the Newspaper the pumpkin was on than the pumpkin itself! :)

Good Days Always Come To An End

Yesterday morning Matt and I got the opportunity to go do a session at the Nashville Temple. It was my first time being able to do work for other people :) I love the feeling I get when I am inside the temple. It is so overwhelming that it automatically sets the mood for the day. Later in the evening I was responding to some emails and all of a sudden I hear "Ahhh" and then Matt got really quite I look past the laptop screen and this is what I see.. yes that is Matt with a whole lot of puke on his forehead. This is why you never toss a baby around after she has just ate :) I couldn't help myself I had to beg him to let me take a picture in between laughter :) I guess all good days must come to an end at some point!

There is Sunshine in Soul Today

"There is sunshine in my soul today, More glorious and bright than glows in any earthly sky, for Jesus is my light, Oh, there's sunshine, blessed Sunshine when the peaceful happy moment roll. When Jesus shows his smiling face, there is sunshine in the soul."
So nothing happened last night besides me coming down with a really bad cold. I don't know what's worse a tornado or trying to take care of a five month old when you barely have the energy to roll over in bed. :) I'm glad that I didn't have to experience a tornado last night though all we got was a little bit of rain but I think I slept better last night then I have in a long time! Matt is so great for making me take Tylenol.

Oh I LoVe the South!

So this morning I woke up to cloudy skies and wet grounds. Evidently it rained last night. When there is rain there is a chance of Tornadoes... yes my friends real twisters :) So I... decided hey since we don't have a weather radio yet or cable I am going to get on weather.com and see whats going on. Well there was a weather alert warning saying we should be expecting thunderstorms. That's cool I've been through those before... so then I downloaded the little desktop weather thing and my oh my about an hour later its start flashing. We are now on tornado watch. Good thing we have the sirens and I know what they are for now :) Everyone keeps telling me oh nothing will happen it never does but in 87 there was a huge one.I called Matt at work and he said "babe don't worry they only happen like every 20 years" then I responded "hmmm 87 to 07 I think its been twenty years" he just laughed realizing what he just said. :) Some may call me a pessimist (oh mother in laws don't you love them?) but I don't care. I am just fine being the paranoid in law who doesn't want to have to ever say "My five month old daughter and I lived through the tornado in 07" What is even worse is we live by a train track and every time it goes by I am all paranoid that it is the siren going off. This is probably not good for my heart lol. This is what I see when I walk out my back door. Lets hope it is there tomorrow :)

First of many first

I decided that I need to expand my baking skills so the other day I decided to make some homemade bread. The first time I have ever done it and yes without a machine!! I was so excited they came out great. The loaves were so moist and they had great texture. I never thought that I would be able to make homemade bread :) yea me!
Another event that has happened lately is Eliza turned five months old and has had rice cereal. She did really well with it. Of course the first couple of bites she made some funny faces but it is now day four and
she has almost mastered using a spoon! I am so excited about all the new things she is learning but pretty soon she wont be a baby anymore. :(

My Dishwasher was about to explode.....

So it's about 9:15ish yesterday morning and I am watching Harry Potter for the 36th time this week :) all of our movies are still in Arizona. Anyway, I am sitting in our rocker nursing the baby and I start to hear this loud loud very loud screeching piercing noise and I start to freak out because it sounds like it is coming from the kitchen so I get up walk in there and stop to listen to where it is coming from. The baby starts to wake up because it is hurting her ears it is so loud and I think to myself holy crap my dish washer is about to explode I immediately turn it off and run back into the other room. So I grab my cell phone and call the manager and I can barely hear her over the noise she hears the panic in my voice as I am screaming betsy? betsy? My dishwasher is about to explode do you hear this noise.... and I hold the phone out for her to hear it. I return the phone to my hear and I hear a 64 year old lady laughing her butt off. I'm a bit irritated by this and once she stops she begins to say "I forgot to tell you every second Monday of the month we test the sirens for tornadoes. that's the alarm that we sound when a tornado is coming. When you hear that make sure you get in the half bath with the baby." she continues to tell me... the siren is right outside you door and as I am opening the door in amazement to the screeching sound she says "don't open the door when it goes off it gets even louder" all I said calmly as I could was "too late... now that baby is awake"..... Welcome to the south!

Mixed Signals

Between 7:45 pm and who knows when. A Hispanic man loves to talk about how he cheats on his girlfriend and other vulgar subjects and how they are justified. How do I know you ask? Let me tell you. After Matt gives Eliza her bath that she loves so much and I nurse her and read her a story then we put her in her crib. Which is now in another room and that makes me paranoid.... We turn on the baby monitor and to our surprise there is a man talking. Our baby monitor picks up this guy's phone but it's not only him talking it's a lot of extremely LOUD static. So for the last week haven't been able to use our baby monitor! We have walked to different areas in the room and there isn't anywhere in the room that doesn't intercept it. Frustrating.... I'll update you if we ever find a solution.

Kodak Moments

So right after I posted earlier I decided to play with the camera and my model that can't object :) As I was snapping pictures I happened to catch her in mid turn!! Her first time ever rolling on her tummy.

I was so excited I think I might have actually scared her when I started yelling... yea yea good job pretty girl! :) The picture is kind of blurry from the motion but you get the point. I love being a mom especially at these moments, and these.....

Daddy caught Eliza
head slamming mommy!!
I had to rip my hair out of her monkey grasp. She was shaking my head back and forth and screaming on top of her lungs at the same time.
(Somethings new she finds very fun and does often)

A New Beginning

So hopefully this is a new beginning to a wonderful thing. We just recently moved to Athens, Alabama where Matt got a job working for an engineering company. This last month has been a bit stressful but that's life right. We went to our new ward last week and it makes me excited to go to a church where the people attend that are really there for the gospel and not because their attendance is expected. The building is so small that the chapel is only the front where the bishop sits and the rest of the building is pretty much the cultural hall. I have a really good feeling about this ward and all of the opportunity it gives us to serve. We have a lot of first happening lately. Eliza just started to roll but she hasn't been able to get her arm out from underneath her yet. She also has started to sit by herself for seconds at time. :) I think she is beginning to look more and more like Matt everyday.
